The downtown area’s annual celebration of summer begins this Wednesday, June 1, with the kick-off to Hot Summer Nights. You can expect free events throughout the summer at Plyler Park, on the Boardwalk and along Ocean Boulevard. Weekly activities include the Kids’ Carnival on Mondays from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., free concerts on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays beginning at 8:00 p.m., fireworks over the ocean from the Second Avenue Pier at 9:30 on Wednesdays (weather permitting), a strolling Dixieland Band on Fridays, and a percussion act on Sundays. The kick-off event this Wednesday includes musical performances at 5:00, 6:30, 8:15 and 9:45 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30.
The official kick-off party begins Wednesday night, June 1, at 5:00 p.m.

5:00 p.m. – Bullfrog takes the stage (Rock/Americana/Folk)
6:00 p.m. – Dedication of the Gause/Spivey Memorial
6:30 – 7:45 p.m. – Bullfrog returns to the stage
8:15 – 9:15 p.m. – The Delta Saints take the stage (Blues/Rock/Roots)
9:30 p.m. – Fireworks
9:45 – 11:00 p.m. – The Delta Saints return to the stage
